Lucerne, Switzerland

Lucerne was an unexpected treat.  The husband booked the whole trip last minute and we made it super short because we were too worried about how expensive Switzerland can get.

As soon as we stepped out of the train station and could see some of the Alps, I wanted to stay longer.  We ended up going on a two hour boat ride where we got to see even more of the mountains, but not enough.

The weather was just starting to get cold when we were there which made me want to come back in the winter.  Skiing anybody?
Winter Wonderland!
We needed to find a cheap place to stay and the husband found a place called the "Jail Hotel" or something like that.  It was the creepiest place I have ever slept.  For about 20 dollars a night per person, we literally slept in what used to be a jail cell

The accomodations were actually quite nice considering what usually comes to my mind when I think of a jail.  The building was used as a jail from the early 1800's until as recent as 1998!  David couldn't sleep well because he kept picturing old prisoners coming back and staging some sort of violent revenge against the people staying in the jail.
The rooms.  Notice the bars on the windows.  This could have turned into some sort of "Dusk till Dawn" experience.

The hallway.  Notice the prision cell doors.  The husband had to duck in order to enter our room.

Me and the ladies.

The husband's turn.

Walk along the river.

Someone told me that this tower is the most photographed landmark in Switzerland.  Who knows if its true.

Fondue in Switzerland!  When did we get so fancy?

Handsome!

Me feeding an eager and athletic swan the leftover bread from our fondue.  He was catching the bits of bread before they even hit the water.

Group shot with the Alps.

The view from the boat.

I am so relaxed here that I almost fell asleep, but managed to smile for a photo anyway.
